New Art Ancient Tradition

The Syllabus

As with all martial arts, progression is the inevitable result of practice. We have a progressive syllabus from white (ungraded) to black belt. The system itself is made up of three types of practice; Goho or hard methods, Juho or pliable/flexable/soft methods and Aiki ho or harmonius/blending methods.

The lower grades focus on the Goho methods of blocking, punching, striking and kicking.

Intermediate grades expand more into Juho and the techniques of throwing, locking, holding, escaping and constriction techniques.

Aiki Ho is the full application of the redirection of your opponents force, and contains projection throws, breath or timing throws and joint pinning methods. Weapons are also introduced into the high Kyu and Dan grades.

Please find below the grading ladder and the required training time between each belt and the Kata or form required for that grade. REMEMBER this is only a guide and it is down to you the individual's ability, readiness and Instructors discretion as to when gradings take place.

Also there is a copy of the current Red Belt Syllabus for your reference.
